When I was flying combat in Iraq, I would listen to Desert Solitaire and Structures from Silence over and over after I returned from missions. It was a calming ritual as powerful as any meditation. I was grateful to have found such beautiful, moving and contemplative music in the middle of chaos.
And it began with "Structures from Silence". I couldn't have asked for more. That song has played such a significant role in my life for 30+ years. Absolutely amazing.
@@stephenteller Ah, that makes perfect sense! I saw the thin blue lines across the front panel, but I didn't make the connection to Oberheim. Thanks for sharing that info; I was really curious about which synth that was.
@@aydnofastro-action1788 As am I. I have in the neighborhood of 65-70 CDs. However, I continue to salivate for more. One would think I'm nuts, save other avid listeners that love the ambient Synthesizer sounds of Steve Roach
Never heard of this man. I just found out today I got COVID. I'm listening to synth based music. I'm a tangerine dream fan, vangelis, jarre etc. But never came across this artist. Great music to discover. Very melodic.
This was just AMAZING... I would LOVE it if Steve would release a DVD or Blu-Ray of this (preferably in 5.1)... I'd buy it in a heartbeat and play it repeatedly...
The last time I went to a Steve Roach concert was in Pasadena, CA on August 30, 2019 at the Ambient Church series, and that show was so amazing. Now with the pandemic, I'm grateful for Steve Roach making his live music available on RUclips. Such a generous gesture! I loved seeing this concert at home, the next best thing to being there. His ambient styling is as brilliant as ever. I love the slow chord progressions with infinite reverb tails, the tribal instruments and shamanistic drums, and lately I loved his use of sequenced music, almost like the logical progression of "Berlin School" electronic music. Thanks Steve for doing this. Wishing you all the best from Culver City, CA. And wishing everyone be well and be safe.
I just love Steve’s concerts is not just putting the machinery releasing the music like some electronic musicians when performing live, is also playing the keyboards, moving around the, adjusting sound, I mean it’s a dynamic experience. The screen behind projecting this Beautifull images flows perfectly with the music. Amazing concert 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
my favorite ambient music musician is john serrie, but steve roach is a very close second favorite. their music always takes me to places i have never been before and this music can actually lower your blood pressure and help you sleep. what other kind of music can do this. 😌 💤 🪐
one man army doing the things he likes to do... and share and spread the vibes to the world... great, awesome, fantastic, thank you, mr steve roach for publishing this just as it is... for free... great!!!
wasn't a live stream but broadcast of recording of Steve's last public performance before pandemic shutdown, this video might be the definitive (so far) live capture. It has a crisp picture, clear sound, few if any technical flaws and the sightlines for watching Steve are really good. The visuals by NoctiVision are state-of-the-art. it is likely you will not be able to stop watching, so make sure you have two hours available.
Have listened to you for decades, this is the best most masterful music I have ever heard, I am stunned and deeply moved, you are a consummate master like no other, this touches my very soul. Thank you ! L 👍🎶👍
I bought and have played this for years while I work as a massage therapist. It is amazing and it knocks my dog out. LOVE it. I must have heard this thousands of times.
This was really well done. Excellent quality video, good non-intrusive camera work, engaging graphics, great sound quality, and of course Steve's wonderful music, 2 hours of it more or less completely uninterrupted. Wish I could have been there but now I almost feel as if I was.
I embarked on an ambient trip with Steve Roach over a decade ago. I met many great artists along the way like Michael Stearns, John Serrie, Robert Rich, Harold Budd...
Ahh… SfSilence as the intro! Wonderful… immensely powerful yet peaceful sound. Forever changed me…began my journey into ambient music. ADSR just right…infinity of reverb….bliss space. Been a synth addict since Bob Moog but Steve has mastered a field of synth use that I doubt Moog ever envisioned. W. Carlos, K. Emerson and T. Dream provided entertainment but this synth work opens doors wherein Time becomes meaningless….far eclipsing mere entertainment. 😎👍🎼🎹 Thanks Steve.

Amazing !! For me his music started with Desert Solitaire and Dreamtime Return. Saw him live in the Netherlands on I think 1991 in Breda on the K.L.E.M.- days, his music is like slowly breathing in and out....
For me structures is the time in life where innocent young life calls for unconditional love and each and every call, elementary demand, will be met by an equally strong response of "care" (a natural right of life that not everyone gets but should get) until it just decents, without a punctuated end, it just goes away. And when your old, heading for your last day structures starts playing again, getting louder and louder... (thats why i do not put a watch on the life i create, not even friends... i just cannot forget how it is when there is none and by that, Do Not grant me to stop caring)
